Aviation’s substantial contribution to Dubai’s economy revealed in latest report
Emirates Group and Dubai Airports have today released an economic impact study that reaffirms the central role aviation plays in Dubai’s economy, by quantifying its contributions and forecasting the sector’s upwards trajectory, based on financial and passenger growth projections for the sector.

The study, compiled by global research firm Oxford Economics, includes an assessment of direct economic activity generated by the aviation sector, indirect activity generated through the sector’s supply chain, and induced activity supported through wage-funded consumption by the local aviation workforce. The study also assesses the catalytic impact of tourism spending facilitated by the aviation sector in Dubai.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline & Group, and Chairman of Dubai Airports said: “Under the leadership of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s aviation sector has been a core pillar of our city’s economic growth strategy to date, and it will continue to play a key role in the D33 Economic Agenda.

“Supported by strong air connectivity, Dubai has a prominent presence on the global stage for trade, investments, tourism, and is a leading player in aviation and logistics. Our ambitious plans for Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International airport, and our ongoing investments to expand capacity at Dubai International, will unlock further economic opportunities by supporting the projected demand for air transport. Our growth plans will generate even more skilled jobs, and also help drive innovation as we work with leading technology partners to develop future solutions to enhance travel experiences and make operations more efficient and secure.”

Ltd., the environmental engineering arm of Haycarb Group, which is a key sector of Hayleys group, used its expertise and experience as a purification systems provider and launched Puritas Sath Diyawara in Padaviya in 2014, to supply clean drinking water to a rural community impacted by the Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in the village D10 Maithripura, by installing a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water treatment facility and distribution system. This initiative has since expanded significantly sponsored by several Companies within the Hayleys Group. Today, as we mark the 10th anniversary of this initiative, 19 Purification and Distribution systems, built at a cost of Rs. 95.5 million, continue to provide over 190,000 litres of drinking water daily benefiting 44,000 individuals, uplifting health and providing hope for a safer and secure tomorrow.

Garuda Aerospace enters Sri Lankan market to target agricultural sector
Cricketer M S Dhoni-backed drone technology firm Garuda Aerospace on Monday (12) announced its entry in the Sri Lankan market where it will primarily target agricultural sector to enhance farming practices, besides exploring opportunities in homeland security and industrial applications.
As part of the company's global expansion plans, the foray into Sri Lanka will also support Garuda in capitalising on the country's strategic location and drone-friendly regulatory environment, Garuda Aerospace said.
The company said it is looking to spread its presence in at least 50 countries over the next few years, and has set aside $10 million, of the over Rs 100 crore revenue it delivered in FY24, to fuel the international growth.
